Glass Class – Education in the Cloud

Glass Class – Education in the Cloud

Video Transcript

Hey, everyone. Today, I'm going to talk to you guys about CASBs and the role they play in securing educational organizations like universities.

So the biggest problem that educational organizations face is the amount of data that they're entrusted to watch over. And that type of data includes things like PCI, PII, student records, federally-funded research, really, any number of things, the list goes on and on.

And then along with that data, obviously, comes a set of regulations that they have to comply with, and those include things like FERPA, FISMA, HIPAA, etc. And on top of that, they're faced with the added challenge of having an extremely diverse device environment.

So education departments have both faculty and students trying to access a number of cloud applications from a number of different devices, be it managed or unmanaged device. So you might have a teacher here at school accessing some cloud app from their computer, but you might also have a student at home accessing a similar or different app from their personal iPhone.

And the challenge there is that you want to be able to provide as many students and faculty access to any number of cloud applications, as painlessly and seamlessly as possible, but at the same time, you also want it to be secured. You still want visibility and control over the data that they're accessing.

So what you really need is a comprehensive solution that can secure any app, any device, anywhere. In other words, you need a cloud access security broker. Thank you for watching Glass Class.
