By Jennifer Perisho | July 18, 2018 at 5:20 AM

In this blog series, The Faces Behind the Next-Gen CASB, we will be interviewing Bitglass employees from different departments within the company. We want to show you what it's like to work for the Next-Gen CASB. In this post, we will hear from Jen Perisho. Read on to learn more!

What do you do at Bitglass?
I am the Events Marketing Manager at Bitglass, so I manage all of our large events – and currently field marketing.

What does your average day look like?
My average day consists of planning logistics for upcoming events, speaking to other vendors about potentially participating in new events, and working with the other members of the sales and marketing teams.

Why did you join the company?
After working in my first security startup for three and a half years, I really grew an appreciation for the industry and how important it is for companies to protect their data. When I first heard about the opportunity at Bitglass, I did some research on the technology and thought it was very interesting and something that I wanted to learn more about.

What is your favorite part of your job?
I have always loved event planning – I started trade show planning almost four years ago now. I am very detail oriented, so planning behind the scenes is where I thrive. I also enjoy traveling to the events so that I can get to see the finished product.

What is it like to work with your team?
Working with this team has been awesome! We all work well with each other and enjoy working together. We are all pretty different, but we have the same end-goal in mind – it makes it a productive as well as fun environment. For example, I'm writing this blog for Jacob, and he might edit it without telling me and include something about how great it is to work with him.

What is Bitglass' culture like?
The culture is great – all of the departments are collaborative and work together very well. I think the thing that brings us all together is happy hour on Fridays. It is a great way for the different departments to come together and just have some fun!

What's your favorite thing about Bitglass?
I would say my favorite thing about Bitglass is the people. When you work with great people, it makes going to work much more fun.

Do you have any advice for people pursuing a career in your line of work?
Start early! Get your foot in the door where you can and work hard.

Who is your favorite San Jose Sharks player and why?
My favorite Sharks player was Patrick Marleau. He started at a young age and was with the Sharks for twenty years (sadly, with no Stanley Cup). He was a great player through the years and was constantly there for his team and his fans. My favorite Marleau story was when a stray kitten popped up on the rink during a game one night – he took it home to his family and named him Joe Pawvelski.
