Encrypting Salesforce in 5 Minutes with a CASB

By Rich Campagna | February 5, 2016 at 10:06 AM

Encrypting data in a cloud app sounds like a lot of work! When it comes to an app like Salesforce, with gobs of data, pages and customization, it sounds even more scary. Fortunately, the process doesn't have to be painful at all. Assuming you've chosen the right CASB, you can get it done in minutes, with no customization or costly professional services from the CASB vendor. Let's take a quick look at how fast this is with Salesforce, though it works similarly regardless of the app.

First, configure Key Stores. Bitglass offers integrated key management, but most enterprises encrypting data choose to use their own, pre-existing key management solutions once they move from trial to production.

Next, connect the CASB to Salesforce by entering API token. Since Salesforce deployments are like snowflakes (no two are alike), the CASB will then automatically map your data structures in Salesforce.

Select the fields that you wish to encrypt, as well as decide whether or not to encrypt other data, such as files.
