Bitglass the Sole Visionary in CASB Gartner Magic Quadrant 2017

By Rich Campagna | December 12, 2017 at 4:41 AM

casb visionary.pngIf you haven't yet seen it, Gartner recently released the very first Magic Quadrant for Cloud Access Security Brokers,1 and Bitglass was honored to be named the sole Visionary.

According to Gartner, "Visionaries invest in leading-edge/"bleeding"-edge features that will be significant in next-generation products, and that give buyers early access to improved security and management."

At Bitglass, we have always prided ourselves on having the best technology on the market, investing heavily to stay ahead of market needs. Early entrants into the CASB space focused on visibility use cases via Shadow IT discovery and out-of-band API integration with cloud applications. Microsoft's massive push with Office 365 over the past couple of years shifted the enterprise need to a focus on real-time data & threat protection, leaving a gap in the market for the rise of next-generation CASB technologies. Enter Bitglass.

While we believe that well-known apps like Office 365, Salesforce, and Box have been top-of-mind for recent CASB adopters, 2018 onwards will bring a massive increase in the number of cloud apps adopted by the enterprise. Not only long-tail industry and department specific cloud apps, but custom apps and off-the-shelf software running in the public cloud are becoming commonplace.

The result will be the rate of change of the enterprise cloud footprint increasing dramatically, requiring investment in security tech that evolves automatically along with that footprint.  Applications will change more often, threats will evolve, and new applications will be a daily rather than annual occurrence. Bitglass' Zero-day CASB Core technologies make us the sole CASB on the market suited to help enterprises adapt to this new cloud reality.

According to Google, the definition of a visionary is a (company) "with original ideas about what the future will or could be like." We think that's just fancy talk for listening to our customers and recognizing how their needs are evolving.

BTW, if you haven't already read it, you can pick up a copy of the Magic Quadrant for Cloud Access Security Brokers here, compliments of Bitglass.
